In part this is a product of good, intuitive design but in complex collaboration platforms there may be a range of different users, each with specific rights to make use of particular functions of the site.

For example, when we developed extranets for Skills for Health and the Small Business Council, we produced specific user manuals for each category of user. These manuals were provided in hard copy and also in electronic form. We also designed and delivered a training programme, which was based on the user documentation, to ensure that users were given the opportunity to understand thoroughly how the facility worked.. On the site itself, we also published a help facility in the form of FAQs, which are updated to reflect user feedback. Finally, we provided a support helpdesk to ensure that we are able to respond promptly to any client concerns.
