The UK's leading business support agencies and key UK Government departments met at the beginning of June, to develop a new strategy for increasing the growth potential of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). The one-day workshop, facilitated by CNR's Dick Willis, marked the culmination of three months' consultation by the Small Business Service (SBS).Andrew Miller, Deputy Director in SBS, used the event to promote his organisation's belief that raising growth potential can only be achieved by improving SMEs' capabilities in areas such as: management, skills, workforce development, design, innovation and sharing of best practice. The new strategy will be published shortly and will be influential in defining national policy and the way it is implemented.
