UK online for business was a UK Government programme that in 2002 alone helped more than 120,000 businesses realise the benefits of new technologies. At the forefront of this work was the UK online for Business network of accredited advisers - delivering services and activities for local companies that included workshops and seminars, consulting and advice sessions for individual companies of all types and sizes.
CNR held the contract as national co-ordinator of the adviser network throughout the life of the programme. Our role included the development of virtual tools and the maintenance of processes to share knowledge between advisers. We also supported service improvement, to increase the numbers of businesses supported. A notable innovation in 2002, which contributed to growth, was the CNR managed best practice database for advisers. This saw a tremendous expansion to over 1,200 references within twelve months.
