The Small Business Council was set up in May 2000 as an advisory Non-Departmental Public Body. Its 24 members are owners and managers of small businesses, representing different sectors, from all parts of the UK. The Council works within Whitehall, seeking to influence and educate Ministers and senior policy makers about the concerns of small business. In order to do this, the members required a shared online workspace, through which they could access documentation and engage in secure discussions. CNR worked with the Council's officers to scope the requirements for the system; built the necessary IT infrastructure; and trained the Secretariat to administer the system. We also provide a first line helpdesk and produced full documentation for all classes of user.
Similar projects have been carried out by CNR for other UK clients, including a Sector Skills Council.
