He has worked in engineering, IT and consultancy and has spent many years developing and marketing new products and services. He is a serial entrepreneur (having set up and run three businesses) and was a business advisor for UK online for business. He carries out research, develops content and runs workshops for small businesses on e-business, for clients ranging from the
Department of Trade & Industry, via Universities to IT vendors such as Hewlett Packard and PCWorld.
As an authority on how small business engages with IT, he has produced numerous fact sheets, diagnostic tools and workshops on e-business, marketing and leadership, both for UK online for Business as part of the local partnership fund initiative and for UFI, as part of the Premier Business Centre programme. He recently served as Research Director for the supplier adoption strand of the ODPM's national e-procurement project.
His business focus is on making e-business a reality for clients by delivering Marketing, Leadership and IT related services. Alan is Chair of the Chartered Institute of Marketing's SE Regional Board and chaired its West Surrey Branch. He is a chartered marketer, an Associate of the Market Research Society and a Technology Means Business accredited adviser.
